| Kathleen McGee has spent the last 30 years living in both Hawaii and Coastal Southern California. Her lifelong interest in art has led her through a variety of mediums and expressions, culminating in watercolor. Her love of beauty and of nature has translated itself into her paintings. |
I think I was raised with the idea that I would be an artist. I began painting with oil on canvas in high school. I later switched to acrylics and then to airbrush and photography. But life soon became filled with marriage and a business career. Then, in 1991, I rediscovered my "roots" in watercolor. I am now pursuing a full time career as an artist. The transparency of watercolor delights me. I love the way colors move and blend into unexpected and pleasant surprises. The capture of light and shadow is continually fascinating. Living in Hawaii, coastal Southern California and the Southwest has inspired me. My art is focused on the flora and scenery of these areas. I am now living in the mountains of Northern Arizona with my best supporters - my husband of 30 years and a finicky, Maine Coon cat named Peter. I have integrated my years of computer experience with my art background and design web sites for artists and others, including the online gallery www.artfaces.com. A lifelong love of beauty and of nature has translated itself into my paintings and I can see how the facets of my past have been brought together into the expression of my art today. Two of Kathleen's paintings have been featured in theSan Diego North County Times. One of Kathleen's paintings, "Heliconia Forrest" was chosen as the artwork for the 2001 Annual Fundraising Gala for Quail Botanical Gardens in Encinitas, California. Another of Kathleen's paintings was purchased by the City of Encinitas Sister-City program to be presented to the city of Hondo, Japan. Her painting "Time Heals all Wounds" was used as the theme artwork for a nurse's conference on healing in Washington state.
